Have you ever been randomly motivated to do something? Well, I was just inspired to write a blog. I’ve had the idea in the back of my mind for quite some time now but I never had the motivation or time to get around to it. Writing, in general, is something I’ve always been good at and enjoyed but this year in particular, I’ve found myself writing about anything and everything almost every night. A few days ago I asked my followers how I can improve my Instagram account @dunkin.ducks and a surprising number of people said I should talk more about my day to day life and tell stories about the ducks. So welcome to day one of my daily storytellings.

I feel like I should really introduce myself since I haven’t exactly shared much on Instagram outside of cute duck pics and the occasional personal story. So HEY! I’m Krissy (but you probably already knew that one). I’m from a super small town in Pennsylvania and I just graduated high school a few weeks ago. In the fall I’ll be going to college to get a bachelors degree in marketing. College was never something I planned on doing, but pressure from a lot of people and a large scholarship convinced me to go. I’m an obvious animal lover and I currently have four dogs, eight birds, fifteen ducks, 3 fish tanks, and a boatload of starfish. My pets are my whole world, especially Munchkin my call duck (Again, you knew that). My friends like to tell me I’m a “work-a-holic”. That’s probably because no matter how stressful my day is, I still consider my job my happy place. Which in many aspects, is just crazy. I also hate doing absolutely nothing more than absolutely anything. So maybe that’s why I’m a work-a-holic. That’s also why I started writing all the time- but that’s a story for another day. Anyways, this paragraph is long enough so everything else you’ll just have to find out when the time comes.

I adopted four mollies (a type of tropical fish) with my boyfriend yesterday. We named them Poe, Molly Cyrus, Blackie Chan, and 2 for 1. Poe got his name because he’s a panda molly. 2 for 1 got her name because she’s pregnant. The fish are adjusting extremely well in my tank with their six other fish friends. I really want to adopt some more koi for my pond now, but my parents are afraid the ducks will eat them. Luckily, my ducks are way to small to eat a koi, and the bigger ducks have never even discovered our front yard. 

Cappuccino and Frappuccino have been spending a lot of time in duck jail lately. Their teenage hormones have caused them to mate a little too rough with the miniature ducks so I have to keep them separated. Duck jail is a pen with a small pond inside it so that the inmates can still play outside and in a pond, but without disturbing their smaller duck friends. The inmates are allowed a frequent visitor though. Her name is Mochaccino, nicknamed Goose for her size and volume, and she is both of their girlfriends. She gets stressed when she’s away from them so it earned her a place in jail too. Hopefully, the inmates will have their charges overturned soon.

Work today was quite busy due to the 4th of July holiday. I have had stress hiccups for about a month now and they got pretty bad today from the holiday stress. I’ve been told the hiccups sound more like a tiny squeak than a real hiccup and everyone describes them as “adorable”. I describe them as completely “ANNOYING”. I enjoy working when it’s busy though because it makes the day go by faster. I already know I will enjoy sleeping in on July 4th though. My boyfriend and I are going fishing in the morning with a few friends and then having a BBQ. I am a little bit scared for the fireworks however because I HATE loud noises more than ANYTHING. I’ll save the story for another day, but basically, I have PTSD from a car driving into the store I work at and nearly killing me and my coworker. As I write this I had to leave my room because the sound of a drill my dad is using to install a new toilet in my bathroom spiked my anxiety too much. I think I have got pretty good at pretending that everything is okay when I get scared of loud sounds lately. I mean, everything HAS to be okay in order to live like a normal person and not be scared of regular things anymore. Anyways, fireworks are beautiful and I’ve always loved them so I’m going to try telling myself that my nervousness is actually just excitement (because yes, I’ve had that trick actually work before).

Today was just a totally normal day for the ducks. I fed and watered them in the morning, let them out when I got home from work, and I haven’t seen them since. They like to stroll into the woods and eat bugs until bedtime. I used to worry about them when I couldn’t find them, but I’ve never had one not return for bedtime snacks.
